New York City Indian Intellectuals: 1900s Radical Anti-Colonialism

Ravi Vora’s project explores the early 20th century movement of anti-colonial South Asian intellectuals in New York City. These South Asian immigrants fled political repression in India and established countless coalitions and publications to make Americans and Indians within the diaspora aware of the British’s brutality. Through his project, Ravi hopes to bring awareness to an early form of South Asian activism born in US soil and long before the formal movement for Indian independence.
