The Localized History Project

Friends of Buttonhook: Indigenous and Asian Solidarities

Amy Feng’s project explores the interconnectedness and solidarity between the Asian American and Indigenous community within her town of Chappaqua, New York. With local forests containing pre-colonial monuments of the Schaghticoke People under risk of being destroyed by real estate agents, Amy’s project studies how the two communities have come together to support one another and reach common goals. Amy hopes that her project is used to demonstrate both the importance of studying local histories to students, as well as highlight how solidarity among communities leads to success.
